Mergers & Acquisitions
Typical private company Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) transactions differ from general business brokerage transactions in that they tend to be larger, more complex, and the acquirers are usually Synergistic Companies or Private Equity Groups/investors (PEG's). The Synergistic Companies are usually of roughly similar size, and up to 10 times the size of the Target Company. These opportunities are rarely advertised on the Internet, and all marketing is very focused to specific (appropriate) Synergistic Companies and PEG's.
Matching M&A buyers and sellers requires exhaustive research efforts to identify appropriate prospects, then followed with extensive marketing directly to those candidates. Success requires a process-driven, methodical approach — and tenacity.
ABI, with over 25 years one as one of the most respected and successful business intermediary companies on the Pacific Coast, has over 400 transactions to its credit, covering a wide variety of industry segments. Additionally, on the M&A side, we meet face-to-face, twice a year, with approximately 65 PEG's, to "shop" our deals and to continually keep developing a good relationship with those PEG's that are very active in the appropriate markets.
ABI is also affiliated with a small group (7) of highly experienced, very successful M&A firms located across the US, in order to share expertise and projects with each other, and to also have complete coverage over the entire US, and beyond. All but one of the principals of these seven firms have each been President or Chairman of the M&A Source and/or the International Business Brokers Association, both organizations of which are the two largest intermediary professional associations in the world. Because of this very active participation in our professional associations, ABI has affiliate intermediary firms throughout the world that we can reach out to, as needed.
